For Fifth Straight Year, Daytona International Speedway Earns Prestigious Welcome Mat Award
For the fifth straight year, historic Daytona International Speedway has been awarded the Welcome Mat from The Good Sam Club for hosting the most RV friendly NASCAR event - the Daytona 500.
The Good Sam Club, the world's largest membership organization of RV owners, introduced their Welcome Mat Awards to recognize those businesses that know how to accommodate RVs and offer award-winning service to a growing number of RV owners. Nearly one million RV owners were eligible to vote for businesses and events that go out of the way to recognize the needs of RV owners. DIS hosted The Good Sam Club's "The Rally" in April 2006.
"We're honored to receive the Welcome Mat for the fifth straight year," Daytona International Speedway President Robin Braig said. "From the shores of Lake Lloyd to the daunting 31-degee high banked turns, we're proud of the wide variety of specialty vehicle packages that offer first-class amenities as well as unique viewing spots of all the action at 'The World Center of Racing.' "
The Daytona 500, which kicks off the new NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series season, is the circuit's biggest, richest and most prestigious race of the year. In 2008, the Daytona 500 will celebrate a historic milestone with the 50th running of the "The Great American Race" on Feb. 17.
Daytona International Speedway offers a plethora of specialty vehicle packages that offer prime viewing spots for all of the high-octane racing at the legendary motorsports facility. Among the specialty vehicle packages are the Lake Lloyd Premium (infield along the banks of Lake Lloyd), Yellow Specialty Vehicle Parking (Infield, Turns 1 and 2), Green (Infield, Turn 4), Orange Reserved Car Parking (Infield, Turns 3 and 4) and West Lot (Outside Turns 1 and 2, not for viewing).
The next opportunity for specialty vehicle owners to enjoy the exciting racing at historic Daytona International Speedway is during the July 5-July 7 Pepsi 400 Weekend, which includes the 49th annual Pepsi 400 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race, the sixth annual Winn Dixie 250 presented by Pepsico NASCAR Busch Series race and the Brumos Porsche 250 Rolex Sports Car Series race.
