DAYTONA USA Honors Local Go-Kart Racer
In November, local go-kart racer Michael Taylor was honored at DAYTONA USA for his achievements during the previous Daytona KartWeek By Cometic Gasket. Daytona International Speedway President Robin Braig inducted the Holly Hill, Fla., racer's go-kart inside the "Official Attraction of NASCAR" for a year. DAYTONA USA, which is home to the winning Daytona 500 car, also annually honors the most successful go-kart competitors of Daytona KartWeek by Cometic Gasket by displaying their winning go-karts. In the 2005 edition of Daytona KartWeek by Cometic Gasket, the 16-year-old Taylor was the most successful karting competitor in the dirt track events at Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium. In five dirt track events at Municipal Stadium, Taylor, who attends high school at Warner Christian, won two races, posted a second-place finish and two fourth-place finishes. "I'm very proud," said Taylor. "It's a great honor." Taylor, who also received season passes to DAYTONA USA for his accomplishments, credits his parents for a lot of his success. Daytona KartWeek by Cometic Gasket returns to DIS on April 13-15. For more information, call 1-800-PITSHOP or visit www.racetickets.com.
