DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 30, 2008) – Daytona KartWeek By Cometic Gasket wrapped up on Tuesday afternoon at Daytona International Speedway.
For the past three days, “The World Center of Racing” has been transformed into a big playground with hundreds of karters from the World Karting Association battling for victories on two different courses.
The Margay Sprint Championships were contested on a half-mile course located in the infield of Turns 3 and 4 while the Dunlop Road Racing Series karters battled on the 3.56-mile road course.
And for the second straight year, the event had star power with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver and 2007 Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola champion Jamie McMurray competing. McMurray made his first trip to DIS as a kid competing in the karting events.
