DAYTONA BEACH , Fla. (Jan. 28, 2009) – Race fans who attend the upcoming DIRECTV Speedweeks 2009 and the 51st annual Daytona 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race will notice significant improvements on the Superstretch at historic Daytona International Speedway.

Work to improve the Superstretch began after the conclusion of the Coke Zero 400 Weekend Powered By Coca-Cola in July, 2008. Included in the renovations were:

·        Widened roads and expanded loading/unloading zones for the Lot 10 parking lot that will greatly reduce the wait time for guests.

·        Improved lighting and an increase in restroom facilities ensure a high degree of safety and comfort.

·        New large video screens along the Superstretch and the brand new Budweiser Beer Garden and Budweiser Entertainment Stage will provide new and exciting entertainment.

“We recognized the need to improve the Superstretch after the 50th running of the Daytona 500 last year,” Daytona International Speedway President Robin Braig said. “With improved parking and tram services and other new amenities, these are significant steps that will take the fans’ overall race experience at ‘The World Center of Racing’ to a new level.”

The new and improved Superstretch will open to race fans during the Camping World 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series on Saturday, Feb. 14 and the 51st annual Daytona 500 on Sunday, Feb. 15.
