DIS To Participate In NASCAR Foundation's Fourth Annual Blood Drive
9/1/2009
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Daytona International Speedway, “The World Center of Racing,” will hold a blood drive on Sept. 11 as part of The NASCAR Foundation’s Fourth Annual Blood Drive presented by Nationwide Insurance.
Each year the Drive mobilizes some of NASCAR’s biggest entities - tracks, drivers, teams and sponsors - in an effort to help meet the on-going need for more than 39,000 blood donations every day. The national effort, spearheaded by The NASCAR Foundation, aims to help maintain safe blood supply levels and lessen the blood shortages that often occur during the summer months and around holidays.
The drive at Daytona International Speedway will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Boardwalk Club, located in the infield on the banks of historic Lake Lloyd. Donors can enter through either the Turn 1 or Turn 4 tunnels.
Every guest who comes to donate will receive a gift bag, donated by 3M, and a ticket to next July’s Subway Jalapeno 250 Powered By Coca-Cola NASCAR Nationwide Series race.
In 2008, 29 tracks participated in the national drive event. Daytona International Speedway generated 380 donors and 351 units of blood while the NASCAR Foundation’s overall drive collected 4,261 pints of blood, potentially saving more than 12,000 lives.
Donors are encouraged to make an appointment in advance at www.nascar.com/foundation.
