The Good Sam Club awarded DIS the Welcome Mat for the eighth straight year for hosting the most RV-friendly NASCAR event – the Daytona 500.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Daytona International Speedway is full of traditions.
The Good Sam Club and its more than one million RV owners continued a tradition of its own – awarding the “World Center of Racing” the Welcome Mat for the eighth straight year for hosting the most RV-friendly NASCAR event – the Daytona 500.
The Good Sam Club, the world's largest membership organization of RV owners, introduced their Welcome Mat Awards to recognize RV-friendly businesses for their customer service and commitment to the recreation vehicle lifestyle. More than one million RV owners were eligible to vote for businesses and events that go out of the way to recognize the needs of RV owners.
“To be consistently listed as No. 1 is an honor and we’re thrilled to accept the Welcome Mat from The Good Sam Club for an eighth straight year,” Daytona International Speedway President Robin Braig said. “We’re proud of all the first-class amenities that we offer our RV guests at Daytona as well as the thrilling racing on the historic 31-degree high banks.”
The Daytona 500, which was won earlier this year by Chip Ganassi Racing’s Jamie McMurray, kicks off the new NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season and is the circuit's biggest, richest and most prestigious race of the year. In 2011, the 53rd annual Daytona 500 is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 20 and tickets and RV packages will go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, June 18.
Daytona International Speedway offers a wide-variety of RV packages that offer prime viewing spots for all of the racing at the legendary motorsports facility. Among the RV packages are the Lake Lloyd Premium (infield along the banks of Lake Lloyd), Red RV Premium (center of the infield, near Lake Lloyd), Yellow RV Premium Parking (Infield, Turns 1 and 2), Green (Infield, Turn 4), Orange Reserved Car Parking (Infield, Turns 3 and 4) and West Lot (Outside Turns 1 and 2, not for viewing).

The 52nd annual Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola will be the final race on the current asphalt of Daytona International Speedway. Following the Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola, the entire 2.5-mile tri-oval will be repaved for only the second time in its history.
