DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Lane Construction Corporation, which is in the process of paving Daytona International Speedway for only the second time in its history, will serve as the sponsor of the seventh annual Daytona 5K & Fun Walk held the morning of the Rolex 24 At Daytona on Saturday, Jan. 29.
The event will be known as the Daytona 5K & Fun Walk sponsored by Lane Construction.
“It's fitting and appropriate to have Lane Construction serve as the title sponsor of the Daytona 5K Run & Fun Walk,” Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood III said. “We couldn’t hold events such as the Daytona 5K or the Rolex 24 without the precision and expertise of the Lane paving crew.”
The Daytona 5K & Fun Walk sponsored by Lane Construction is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to walk or run on the pavement of Daytona International Speedway the morning of the Rolex 24 At Daytona, America’s most prestigious sports car race and the season-opening event to the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16.
The Walk is one lap around the 2.5-mile tri-oval and the 5K run is a single lap on the tri-oval and the non-banked infield section. The Kids’ Run, a dash down pit road, is available free for children ages 12 and under.
“Lane employees take great pride in supporting community events, including local charities and non-profits,” added Robert “Bob” Alger, President & CEO of the Lane Construction Corporation. “Lane is excited to be a part of this wonderful Daytona community event that also supports a very worthwhile local cause—the United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties.”
Online registration is now open at www.daytona5k.com for the Daytona 5K & Fun Walk sponsored by Lane Construction. Walk fees are $20 in advance and $25 on race day. 5K fees are $22 before December 31, $27 between Jan. 1-28 and $35 on race day. There is no fee for the Kids’ Run.
Each participant will receive an official T-shirt, free admission ticket to the Rolex 24 at Daytona, and admission to the Daytona 5K Run & Fun Walk sponsored by Lane Construction post-race party in the Sprint FANZONE.
A portion of the proceeds from the Daytona 5K & Fun Walk sponsored by Lane Construction will benefit the United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties.
