Prior to sports car drivers competing in the 54th anniversary of the Rolex 24 At Daytona IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season opener, runners will take their turn on the storied road course of the "World Center of Racing" in Saturday morning’s Daytona 5K Run & Fun Walk. Also on tap is a 2.5-mile Fun Walk and a Kid’s Run where children 12 and under are invited to participate in a dash down pit road.
Following the Daytona 5K Run & Fun Walk, there will be a post-race awards ceremony in Sprint FANZONE and then participants can enjoy all the atmosphere and excitement of the Rolex 24 At Daytona, the most prestigious sports car race in America.
Each participant will receive an official T-shirt and a general admission ticket to the Rolex 24 At Daytona, the first event to take place in the new motorsports stadium following the completion of the $400 million DAYTONA Rising redevelopment project.
Between now and Dec. 31, competitors can pre-register for the Daytona 5K at www.daytona5k.com for $27. The registration fee between Jan. 1 and Jan. 29 is $32. Race day registration is $40. Advance Fun Walk registration is $25 and race day registration is $30. Kid’s Run is free. Online registration closes on Jan. 26 at 7 p.m.
