As a fan, you’re really not experiencing the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA if you don’t take advantage of all of the entertainment and programming in UNOH Fanzone. In addition to being located between the garages, Gatorade Victory Lane and Pit Road, UNOH Fanzone packs a week’s worth of excitement into one memorable weekend of action. Access is free with your infield admission ticket, so be sure to check the event schedule to best plan how you’d like to spend your time, because there’s truly so much to see and do in UNOH Fanzone
Before the Race:
Attend the Driver Autograph Session
If you’re looking to add to a hard-earned autograph collection, UNOH Fanzone gives you the best opportunity to get up close and personal with your favorite drivers, providing unprecedented access to drivers for autographs at the race. For this event, if you set out to see someone and get their autograph, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to make it happen.
Upgrade to Garage Access
While your race ticket grants you free admission to the UNOH Fanzone, the most exclusive place to be is in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship garages. Take an up-close look at your favorite cars as they prepare for the ultimate 24-hour challenge! Your Rolex 24 At DAYTONA experience will be one to remember if you take advantage of the exclusive opportunity to go behind the scenes with garage access. Two-day (Sat/Sun) access is available for only $45, while access on Thursday and Friday can be purchased for just $10 per day.
Walk the Grid
If you do nothing else while you’re here for the weekend, be sure to participate in the pre-race fan walk on Saturday. Make sure you’re in the UNOH fanzone area a couple hours early, before the gates are opened and everyone is allowed onto the grid for the fan walk. This is a must-do for first-timers and veterans alike as you will be able to walk up to the cars and drivers to take photos and get autographs. Ever wanted to wish your favorite driver good luck right before the race? This is your chance. You can even step out on to the track and climb the steep 18 degree frontstretch. Once you do, you will never look at it the same way again.
During the Race:
Grab The Mic
The Main Stage inside the UNOH Fanzone will welcome a variety of terrific bands and musical acts throughout the weekend. The music is great, at least until it’s time for always-entertaining karaoke. A highlight of the weekend for many is watching friends take the stage for some good old-fashioned karaoke on Saturday night at 10:30 pm. While the talent is always questionable, the entertainment level is always top-notch.
Watch the Race
While this may seem obvious, many newcomers don’t think of UNOH Fanzone as a place to watch the race. To the contrary, it’s one of the best spots on the property. You can even go on top of this garage area on the UNOH Fandeck and see around much of the track as well as down on the garage and hauler area, which is always buzzing with activity. In addition, you can pull up with food and beverage in tow and take a seat outside the Budweiser Bistro, where a massive jumbotron makes sure you don’t miss a second of the 24 hours of racing action.
Don’t Leave Empty Handed
If you’re in need of fresh, updated merchandise and memorabilia, the Fanatics store is the place to go. You’ll find a widest collection of official Rolex 24 At DAYTONA and Daytona International Speedway merchandise. New Rolex 24 At DAYTONA gear makes for perfect items to be signed in Saturday’s driver autograph session.
Take a Look into the Past
The Rolex 24 Heritage Exhibition, on display all weekend near the FPL Solar Patio inside UNOH Fanzone, allows you to take a walk through history as you examine row after row of vintage cars, all of which raced in the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA from 1960 to 2014. It’s amazing to take a firsthand look into the history and progress of the sport across the decades through a number of historically significant race cars. This year, with a new era of prototype competition being launched, there will be a strong focus on cars from the various prototype eras. On Sunday afternoon, the vintage collection of priceless sports cars will be paraded throughout the UNOH Fanzone, so be sure to grab one last photo.
Check the schedule and pick out what’s interesting to you. There’s certainly lot more than what’s been mentioned here, including photos with the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA trophy in Gatorade Victory Lane, but it’s safe to say that no Rolex 24 At DAYTONA experience is complete without a trip throughout UNOH Fanzone.
If you don’t yet have garage access for the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA, be sure to get your hands on this must-have experience. Access is available on Thursday and Friday for just $10 per day, while two-day access for both Saturday and Sunday is now available for only $45. Don’t miss your chance to go behind-the-scenes to see your favorite cars, drivers and race teams hard at work. Get access now or call 1-800-PITSHOP.
