The 12th annual “Drive to Donate” blood drive will return to Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 9. The blood drive, which was started by the “World Center of Racing” and OneBlood to honor the victims of Sept. 11, brings the Central Florida community together to give the “Gift of Life.”
Over the past 11 years, the “Drive to Donate” has collected more than 5,300 units of blood. This year’s “Drive to Donate” blood drive, which is also receiving support from Orlando NBC television affiliate WESH Ch. 2, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the UNOH Fanzone located in the infield. Donors can enter the Speedway through Gate 40 and the Turn 1 tunnel, located off of Williamson Blvd.
Every guest that donates blood will receive:
- A free general admission stadium ticket to the 2018 Coca-Cola Firecracker 250 NASCAR XFINITY Series race (must be redeemed by May 1, 2018)
- Special edition, ‘9/11 Patriot Day’ T-shirt

Daytona International Speedway is the world’s only motorsports stadium and was awarded the SportsBusiness Journal’s prestigious Sports Business Award for Sports Facility of the Year in 2016. Daytona International Speedway is the home of "The Great American Race” – the DAYTONA 500. Though the season-opening Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event garners most of the attention – as well as the largest audience in motorsports – the approximately 500-acre motorsports complex, also known as the “World Center of Racing,” boasts the most diverse schedule of racing on the globe. In addition to at least nine major event weekends, the Speedway grounds are also used extensively for events that include concerts, civic and social gatherings, car shows, photo shoots, production vehicle testing and police motorcycle training.
OneBlood is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) community asset responsible for providing safe, available and affordable blood to more than 200 hospital partners and their patients throughout most of Florida, parts of Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina. The OneBlood name is a constant reminder of the collective power we share to save another person’s life.
