Challenge DAYTONA International Speedway!
Are you ready to swim, bike and run in the “World Center of Racing?”
From December 7th-9th, 2018, Daytona International Speedway will welcome triathletes and triathlon fans from around the world to Challenge DAYTONA. The entire festival of events will take place at the approximately 500-acre motorsports complex, home of “The Great American Race”—the DAYTONA 500.
Middle Distance - $240
The Middle Distance race starts with a 1.2-mile swim in the calm waters of Lake Lloyd, within sight of the track. After a quick transition, you’ll enjoy an unprecedented opportunity to race a lap around Daytona International Speedway by bike.
Next, you’ll leave the circuit via the Turn 4 tunnel, a narrow tunnel with a drop and rise that will send you off onto the course. You’ll complete a circuit on the Daytona Beach roads passing alongside Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, just meters away from the runways at the Daytona Beach International Airport. At the end of the 56 mile course, you’ll return to Daytona International Speedway to prepare for your run.
Finally, it’s time for a half marathon like you’ve only imagined—four laps around the historic Daytona International Speedway track. Maybe you won’t hit the speeds that drivers clock, but it’s sure to be a fast run fueled by the enthusiasm and energy of the crowds. It’s also sure to be an experience you’ll never forget!
Sprint Distance - $85
The Sprint Distance triathlon will kick off the racing action at Challenge Daytona on Saturday, December 8th. Individual athletes and relay teams alike are invited to take on the .5-mile swim, 12.4-mile bike, and 3.1-mile run course.
Similar to the Middle Distance race, the start and finish are at the iconic Daytona International Speedway, with the entire course inside the Daytona International Speedway venue. You’ll ride and run right on the track! Whether you race as an individual or as part of a team, you’ll experience the awe of this unique venue, rich with history. Be ready for one of the most special experiences of your life!
5k Run/Walk - $30
If you want to be part of Challenge Daytona but don’t feel comfortable swimming and/or biking, then the 5K Run/Walk is definitely for you. The event is open to all ages and abilities, and walking and running are equally encouraged. The best part? You’ll get to take a lap of the iconic Daytona International Speedway!
Junior Challenge - $30
The Junior Challenge, on Saturday December 8, provides kids of all athletic abilities a chance to get in on the racing action. This short distance Aquathlon event will be as much a party as it is a competition, offering something for everyone from focused competitors to first-timers. Our Junior Challenge athletes will complete a .3-mile swim and .6-mile run, finishing at the official finish line, close to the Fun Zone.
Imagine going back to school on Monday and telling your classmates that you raced at Daytona International Speedway!
Corporate Relay - $110-$340
Want to tackle the Sprint Distance or Middle Distance with your colleagues? Then the Corporate Relay is for you. Of your three team members, one will swim, one will bike, and one will run. The relay is a great way to get a feel for triathlon before you’re ready to go for all three disciplines on your own. It’s also an excellent team-building experience and a way to push past your personal limits and learn new group dynamics in the process.
Ready for something special? Something you can’t do anywhere else? We’re talking about our Pitstop Challenge—a unique, NASCAR-inspired event, tailored to triathletes. Competitors will ride onto pit road and replace their two bike tires as fast as possible in a race against the clock. Are you up for the challenge? Can you handle the pressure?
