REIMAGINING AN AMERICAN ICON
DAYTONA Rising is a $400 million reimagining of an American icon – Daytona International Speedway.
Five expanded and redesigned entrances, or “injectors,” will lead fans to a series of escalators and elevators, transporting them to three different concourse levels. Each level features spacious social areas, or “neighborhoods,” along the nearly mile-long frontstretch.
At the conclusion of the redevelopment, Daytona International Speedway will have approximately 101,000 permanent, wider and more comfortable seats, twice as many restrooms and three times as many concession stands. In addition, the Speedway will feature over 60 luxury suites with track side views and a completely revamped hospitality experience for corporate guests.
The project officially broke ground in early July, 2013 and is expected to be completed in time for the 2016 Rolex 24 At Daytona and DAYTONA 500.
THE JOURNEY OF A LIFETIME
Daytona International Speedway was built with more than concrete and steel. It was built with vision. Determination. And, most of all, it was built with imagination.
Imagination is what caused a small-town service station owner to dream of creating a racetrack that was bigger, faster and more exciting than any that came before – or since. Imagination is what fuels every child who dreams of one day winning The Great American Race. Imagination is what’s inspired millions of fans from all over the globe to climb into its grandstands and witness some of the greatest moments in motorsports history.
DAYTONA Rising is a reimagining of what a race experience can be, blending the modern amenities that today’s sports fans demand with the heritage that race fans expect from Daytona. Everything about the race experience – from seating to concessions to conveniences – will be reimagined to create the world’s first true motorsports entertainment complex.
Just as Daytona did more than five decades ago, DAYTONA Rising will harness the power of imagination yet again – and reimagine an American icon in the process.
The vision for the redevelopment places an emphasis on enhancing “the complete fan experience,” beginning with five expanded and redesigned fan entrances (“injectors”) along International Speedway Boulevard. Before you even reach your seat, you'll be greeted with features and amenities created with your comfort and convenience in mind.
To help maximize your view of the speedway, we've completely redesigned the grandstands. The front row will be up to 12 feet higher across the entire grandstands; all lower-level seats will have improved sight lines. New, upper-level seats will continue to have views similar to the upper levels of the current Petty, Earnhardt and Sprint Towers.
Forty escalators - the most of any sports stadium in the nation - and 16 elevators will be available to carry you to your level. Each injector will lead directly to a series of escalators that will transport fans to any of three different concourse levels, each featuring spacious and social “neighborhoods” along the mile-long frontstretch.
Have a seat, get comfortable, and then get ready for an experience that only the World Center of Racing can offer: We've listened to your comments and feedback, and designed a grandstand that won't just offer the best sights and sounds in racing, but in all sports. All metal seats are being removed and replaced with molded seats that are either 21 or 20 inches in width. All seats will include cup holders. More access points to the grandstands mean less walking up and down the steps to reach your row. And most rows will have 24 or less seats, so reaching your seat is more convenient than ever. For fans who need ADA-compliant seating, we'll offer expanded choices, with multiple options available on levels throughout the entire facility.
If you want to snack from the concession area or need to use the restroom, you won't miss a moment of the race. A total of 1,600 video monitors will be positioned throughout the facility, ensuring that you'll be able to follow the action. All suites and hospitality areas will also include video monitors.
In addition to offering a greater variety and quantity of concession and merchandise options throughout the facility, we're tripling the number of restrooms currently available and are furnishing them with upgraded fixtures - 1,891 in total, the most of any sports facility in America. We're also adding family restrooms for those with small children.
