NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Country music sensation and avid NASCAR fan Chris Cagle will "get his NASCAR on" when he sings the national anthem prior to the start of the upcoming NASCAR Nationwide Series DRIVE4COPD 300 race at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 25.  In addition to performing during Saturday’s race, Cagle also will ride "shotgun" with friend and NASCAR driver Mike Wallace, when Cagle's image appears on the decklid of Wallace’s No. 01 G&K Services Chevrolet car.

"Just being in Daytona during the kick-off of the NASCAR racing season is a big deal, but when I found out I was going to be featured on the car, it was unbelievable! On top of that, getting the call to sing our National Anthem before the Nationwide Series race...it's a dream come true!," Cagle expressed.

“We’re looking forward to having Chris rev up our fans with a rousing rendition of the National Anthem prior to the DRIVE4COPD 300,” said Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood III. “His performance only enhances the already stellar line-up of entertainment on hand for Speedweeks 2012.”

Cagle plans to enjoy the monumental day with his wife Kay. "I am a huge NASCAR fan and a dear friend to Mike Wallace and his family! This is going to be an amazing day for me and something I never thought I'd have the opportunity to do! I'm going to enjoy every single moment, not to mention, the pleasure of introducing my wife to one of the greatest spectator sports that America has to offer," said Cagle.

 About Chris Cagle:

Born in DeRidder, La., and raised "all over," Chris Cagle was signed to Virgin Records by Scott Hendricks in 2000. Chris quickly earned critical and commercial success and attracted a legion of fans that included industry heavyweights and country fans alike. His first number one smash, “I Breathe In, I Breathe Out,” remains a fan favorite.  From 2000-2008, he released an almost nonstop catalog of chart-topping songs, but in 2008, Chris bowed out and retreated to Marietta, Oklahoma, a place where he could reconnect with his roots and take a break from the industry. He spent the next couple of years staking his claim on home life and embracing a lifelong dream: building his family’s home, “Big Horse Ranch,” with his own two hands, nail by nail.

Cagle's musical character and burning ambition never wavered and 2012's album is, in more ways than one, a new lease on life.  The new record is his homecoming – a rekindling of his creative flame and a roaring reminder of his rock-infused country roots.  Chris' music has been firing people up for over a decade, and this time around, Chris is chomping at the bit for an energetic reintroduction to the country music community that’s been a long time coming.

Daytona International Speedway (DIS) is the most recent professional sports venue to adopt Activator, the cloud-based partnership management platform, as well as the first speedway to actually go live with dedicated channels for Coca Cola and Anheuser-Busch.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Daytona International Speedway (DIS) is the most recent professional sports venue to adopt Activator, the cloud-based partnership management platform, as well as the first speedway to actually go live with dedicated channels for Coca Cola and Anheuser-Busch.

“We chose Activator to keep our key marketing partners updated, informed and fully engaged with us,” said Daytona International Speedway Joie Chitwood III.  “In today’s world, things move at incredible speeds so we wanted to provide our partners with ongoing feedback and intelligence in a secure, easy-to-use work space for driving maximum ROI.”

Shifting to Activator will enable DIS to update Coca-Cola and Anheuser-Busch in real-time on all aspects of their respective deals, on and off the track. In addition, both partners will be able to collaborate simply and securely with DIS, and access their own private Activator workspaces anytime, anywhere.

“DIS is known industry-wide as a pioneer in marketing partnerships,” said Len Perna, Turnkey’s President and CEO. “DIS knows that return on investment is directly proportional to the parties’ ability to coordinate, collaborate and activate. Supercross Legend Designs Course for Fifth Straight Year

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – For the fifth-straight year, legendary Supercross champion Ricky Carmichael will challenge riders with his latest signature course design in the 2012 Daytona Supercross By Honda scheduled for Saturday night, March 10, the only AMA Supercross event in Florida this year.

“It’s an honor and a pleasure to design the course for Daytona, where there is so much racing history involved,” said Carmichael, who owns a record five Daytona Supercross By Honda victories. “The fans are great, and there is a great group of people working at Daytona International Speedway.  I’m flattered that they continue to want me to keep coming back to design their race course.  It’s a pretty cool deal.”

The Ricky Carmichael Signature Design course will draw some parallels to last year’s layout with the placement of the starting gate remaining on pit road and providing fans with a great view of the first turn. It will feature slight changes in the course’s configuration, particularly in the corners.

“It’s fun to sit down at the drawing board and to think of a design that will be fun and challenging for the riders, as well as exciting for the fans and for the people watching on television,” Carmichael said.

Top riders such as two-time defending Daytona Supercross By Honda champion Ryan Villopoto, James Stewart, Chad Reed, Andrew Short, Kevin Windham and Ryan Dungey will battle for victory on Carmichael’s tough and challenging course.

Following the Daytona Supercross By Honda on Saturday, March 10, the Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross will take center stage on Sunday, March 11 and Monday, March 12 on a modified version of the layout. Amateur riders interested  in competing in the Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross can sign up by visiting https://secure.tracksideonlineresults.com/daytonasx/

“Ricky Carmichael is the most decorated Supercross rider in history and there’s no better course designer than ‘The Greatest of All Time,’” said Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood III. “We have received positive feedback on Ricky Carmichael’s course designs for the Daytona Supercross By Honda from both riders and fans. Year in and year out, Ricky has created a course that has provided a tough test for the riders as well as a thrilling show for the fans.”

Daytona International Speedway has been home to the original Supercross since    1971 – the longest continuous Supercross event in America – and stages the grueling and demanding race in the tri-oval. Aside from Carmichael, Supercross greats like Bob Hannah, Jeff Stanton and Jeremy McGrath have captured career-defining wins at the Daytona Supercross.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones will serve as Honorary Race Official for the 54th annual Daytona 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday, Feb. 26 at Daytona International Speedway (FOX, 1 p.m. ET).

As Honorary Race Official, Jones will be introduced at the driver’s meeting, participate in pre-race ceremonies and ride in one of the honorary race official cars ahead of the 43-car field for the 200-lap, 500-mile historic race.

“Jon ‘Bones’ Jones is a huge star in mixed martial arts,” Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood III said. “We are excited to welcome him to the ‘World Center of Racing’ and have him be a part of the pre-race ceremonies for NASCAR’s biggest, richest and most prestigious race.”

“I am thrilled to be able to serve as Honorary Race Official at this year's Daytona 500, NASCAR's premier event,” Jones said. “Like the UFC, NASCAR has a passionate and knowledgeable fan base, and I am honored that I will get to share this experience with them."

Jones’ holds a career record of 15-1, which is comprised of eight knockouts and five submissions. He was named “Most Dangerous Man” at the 2011 Spike Guys’ Choice Awards and “2011 Fighter of the Year” at the World MMA Awards.

In December 2011, the Endicott, N.Y. native capped off what many have hailed as the greatest year in MMA history with a submission against Lyoto Machida.

Earlier in the year, Jones became the youngest champion in UFC history at the age of 23 after he won all four of his fights and earned the Light Heavyweight title. With two more defeats of former champions later in 2011, Jones became the first fighter in UFC history to defeat three former champions in one year.

Jones entered the UFC in August 2008 after only four months of competing in professional fights.

Currently, Jones trains in Albuquerque, N.M. under legendary MMA coach Greg Jackson. On April 21 in Atlanta, Jones will take on his former champion training partner, “Suga” Rashad Evans, in one of the most anticipated UFC fights of the year.

Feb 19 | Edwards, Biffle Sweep Daytona 500 Front Row For Roush Fenway Racing

Carl Edwards wins the pole for the 54th annual Daytona 500.

Daytona 500 Qualifying
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – With a fast lap of 194.738 mph – the fastest qualifying lap at Daytona in over a decade – Carl Edwards put the No. 99 Roush Fenway Racing Ford on the pole for the 54th annual Daytona 500 during Sunday’s Daytona 500 Qualifying Presented by Kroger.

Edwards’ time was the fastest since 1999 when Jeff Gordon took the pole for the Daytona 500 at 195.067 mph and Dale Jarrett took the Coke Zero 400 pole at 194.860 mph.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” Edwards said. “This is very special. It’s not a driving accomplishment, this is a team accomplishment. There’s a lot of pride in this for everyone. I’m excited to have all the guys back at the shop this week know they sent the best racecars down to Daytona.”

Next Sunday will mark the third-consecutive year that teammates will lead the 43-car field to the green flag, but the first time that Roush Fenway Racing will command the front row for “The Great American Race”. Edwards will start alongside teammate Greg Biffle.

“It’s a sign of the strength of your team,” Edwards said. “It’s not that we just have one car up there – to have that whole front row says a lot about Roush Fenway Racing and Ford.”

Biffle, who was the last Roush driver to win the pole for the Daytona 500 (2004), wheeled his No.16 3M Ford to the second-fastest lap of 194.087 mph – just .155 seconds slower than Edwards. The entire top 10 posted blistering speeds with just .270 seconds separating them.

“I’d run the Gatorade Duel tonight if I could,” Biffle said. “I can’t wait for the 150s. I can’t wait for practice. I want to get in the car and go. I’m just juiced up.”

Ford had a strong showing, taking four of the top-five positions. This is the first time that Ford has swept the front row since David Gilliland and Ricky Rudd did it in 2007 – which is also the last time Ford claimed the pole in the season opener.

Of the 49 cars that attempted to qualify, 14 were required to qualify on time. Three secured a starting position based on their qualifying speed – defending Daytona 500 champion Trevor Bayne (193.615), Tony Raines (192.534) and David Stremme (191.963). Also guaranteed a spot is former series champion Terry Labonte.

Today’s qualifying effort not only set the front row for NASCAR’s biggest, richest and most prestigious race, it also determined the line-ups for Thursday’s Gatorade Duel at Daytona. Edwards will lead the first race and Biffle will lead the drivers who qualified in the second race.

Clint Bowyer, who had posted the 22nd-fastest lap, will drop to the back of the field in the second Duel because his car failed to pass inspection.

Speedweeks 2012 resumes at Daytona International Speedway on Wednesday, Feb. 22 with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice at noon. Tickets for the 54th annual Daytona 500 on Sunday, Feb. 26, as well as other Speedweeks 2012 events can be purchased online at www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com or by calling 1-800-PITSHOP.
