Another Star-Studded Field Expected For Rolex 24 At Daytona
When strolling through the starting grid before the start of the 46th anniversary of the Rolex 24 At Daytona on Jan. 26-27, fans will see many of the biggest names in motorsports on hand to compete in the toughest and most prestigious sports car race in America.

"The Rolex 24 At Daytona is a spectacle that attracts the biggest names in motorsports and we expect that trend to continue in 2008," Daytona International Speedway President Robin Braig said.

In the 2007 edition of the Rolex 24, the Rolex 24 turned into an impromptu All-Star race. The entry list featured such high-profile names from the world of NASCAR such as four-time NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series champion and three-time Daytona 500 winner Jeff Gordon, two-time NEXTEL Cup champion Tony Stewart, 2006 NEXTEL Cup champion and Daytona 500 winner Jimmie Johnson and 2000 NEXTEL Cup champion Bobby Labonte. The list of Indianapolis 500 champions that competed in the 2007 Rolex 24 include Dan Wheldon, Buddy Rice, Eddie Cheever, Helio Castroneves, Sam Hornish Jr., and Formula One star turned NASCAR rookie Juan Pablo Montoya.

Sports car stars that were competing included five-time Rolex 24 champion Hurley Haywood, Scott Pruett, Max Papis, Butch Leitzinger, Andy Wallace, Boris Said, Wayne Taylor and Rob and Chris Dyson.

"It goes to show you how competitive this series is, because the last two Daytona (Rolex 24s) have had a collection of probably the world¹s best drivers, all in one place," Haywood said of the star-studded lineups. "It's just amazing how fantastic that field is filled with the names that we get, from the open wheel cars, both in Europe and the United States, to stock car guys, to sports car guys. It's really an accumulation of unbelievable talent. When you put all those guys in cars that are pretty much equal, and very reliable, you're going to get a good race."
