Rolex 24 Drivers Compete For Daytona Cosmograph
All the class winners of the 46th anniversary of the Rolex 24 At Daytona on Jan. 26-27 will be presented with one of the most famous timepieces ever created - the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Daytona Cosmograph.
"We at Rolex are pleased to be presenting Rolex Daytona Cosmographs to the winning drivers of the 46th anniversary of the Rolex 24 At Daytona," said Allen Brill, President/CEO of Rolex Watch U.S.A. "This award symbolizes the strength, endurance and superior performance of drivers who are considered the best in the world."
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Daytona Cosmograph is stainless steel and features tachometer engraving on bezel with special screw-down push buttons that activate the stopwatch functions. The Cosmograph is arguably the most sought-after watch in the Rolex line.
In 1959, Rene Dentan, then president of Rolex Watch U.S.A., presented a sundial to Daytona International Speedway founder Bill France Sr. to commemorate the opening of France's one-of-a-kind facility. Today, the sundial trophy is presented annually as the Manufacturer's Trophy for the twice-around-the-clock race.
"The Rolex 24 At Daytona is one of only two major 24-hour endurance races in the world," said Speedway President Robin Braig. "This event is known for its precision equipment coupled with the driver's mechanical endurance, which are also exceptional qualities inherent in the Rolex timepieces."
