Daytona International Speedway is offering the job of a lifetime to a lucky race fan with its annual Mayor of Speedweeks contest.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.  – It’s the dream of every race fan – presiding as Mayor over three of the biggest weeks in racing – Speedweeks 2010 and the 52nd annual Daytona 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.

Daytona International Speedway is offering the job of a lifetime with its annual Mayor Of Speedweeks contest as one lucky race fan will receive two tickets to all Speedweeks races, be part of the prestigious Daytona 500 Gatorade Victory Lane celebration, and officially kick off Speedweeks at the Rolex 24 At Daytona practice – all just a few of the perks bestowed upon Daytona International Speedway’s “Mayor of Speedweeks 2010”

Teaming with Black Crow Broadcasting (WVYB, 103.3 FM; WHOG, 95.7;  93.1 KRO Country), the winner will also receive Pre-Race/Sprint FANZONE access for the Daytona 500, participate in Speedweeks 2010 Opening Ceremonies at Rolex 24 At Daytona practice, receive two tickets to the Daytona 500 Experience; wave the flag at Rolex practice session to officially get Speedweeks underway; serve as an honorary judge at the Rolex 24 At Daytona Chili Cook-off competition; attend the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Driver's Meeting; have their name announced as the Mayor of Speedweeks on the pre-race stage during the NextEra Energy Resources 250 pre-race ceremonies and be part of the Gatorade Victory Lane celebration at NASCAR’s most biggest and richest race – the 52nd running of the Daytona 500.

To get all the perks of Mayor of Speedweeks, fans need to tell Daytona officials “Why I Should Be Mayor of Speedweeks 2010” in 100 words or less.

Top three (3) entries will be selected by designated Daytona International Speedway posted on the DIS Facebook page at and Facebook fans will vote for who they think should be the Mayor of Speedweeks the week of January 11th. The entry with the most votes will win. 

Future Mayors can enter their essay by visiting or by picking up or dropping off their entry at Guest Services located at Daytona 500 Experience. 
The contest runs Dec. 15 – Jan. 8, 2010.
