The 2016 DAYTONA 500 Champion immortalized his name into the record books by taking the checkered flag by a 0.010-second margin, the closest finish in the history of The Great American Race. The 35-year old Virginia native led a race-high 95 laps before delivering Joe Gibbs Racing its first Harley J. Earl DAYTONA 500 Trophy since 1993.
The driver of the #11 FedEx Toyota Camry has now finished in the top 5 of the DAYTONA 500 in four of the last five years. Already in the 2016 Chase for the Sprint Cup, Hamlin currently has 27 wins in 363 career starts over 12 seasons in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series.
