This year’s DAYTONA Speedweeks Presented By AdventHealth had no shortage of memorable moments, culminating in another DAYTONA 500 championship for driver Denny Hamlin and Joe Gibbs Racing. But did you know that up-and-coming driver Ross Chastain ran in every race from Thursday night in the Gander RV Duel all the way through "The Great American Race?"
A native of Alva, Fla., Chastain drove four consecutive races across three series and in three different rides, posted two top-10 finishes and completed 495 of 498 possible laps on the weekend. Here’s a rundown of each of Chastain’s amazing performances from DAYTONA Speedweeks Presented By AdventHealth.
2/14: Gander RV Duel At DAYTONA
Starting Position: 18th
Chastain kicked off his marathon run Thursday night under the lights in the second 150-mile qualifying race of the Gander RV Duel At DAYTONA. He would finish 19th in a race led almost entirely by Clint Bowyer before a last-lap pass by Joey Logano to take the checkered flag.
2/15: NextEra Energy 250
Starting Position: 23rd
In the first race of the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series season, Chastain posted an impressive third-place finish after starting in the middle of the pack in 23rd. Chastain and Niece Motorsports’ No. 45 Chevrolet Silverado were one of only nine teams to complete the 111 laps needed to finish the race following a record 11 caution flags.
2/16: NASCAR Racing Experience 300
Starting Position: 6th
Driving the No. 10 Nutrien Chevrolet for Kaulig Racing, Chastain turned in another strong performance on Saturday night in the season-opening NASCAR Racing Experience 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series race, winning Stage 2 and racking up 43 series points for his efforts. He finished 13th and positioned himself well for the start of the NXS season.
2/17: DAYTONA 500
Starting Position: 36th
In the 61st running of "The Great American Race," Chastain charged ahead from his 36th starting spot all the way to an impressive top-10 finish. Driving the No. 15 Premium Motorsports Chevrolet, Chastain navigated a series of late-race incidents to finish 10th, a career best in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.
