PRO-AM SPRINT RELAY “UNDER THE LIGHTS”
The unique CHALLENGEDAYTONA Pro-am event let’s you race as an amateur in a team with a PRO athlete!
Pro-am teams will compete in a sprint triathlon on December 4, 2020, at 6:00 pm. The late start is also designed to create an unprecedented sensory experience, as the lights at Daytona International Speedway®—normally reserved solely for NASCAR racing, sports cars and Supercross —will illuminate the track at 5:30 p.m., just as the Florida sunsets and the pros speed around the track. The sprint triathlon consists of an 800-meter swim, 12.4-mile bike and 3.1-mile run. Professional triathletes will complete the swim segment of the sprint triathlon, while age-group athletes will perform the run or bike.
Age group athletes will have an opportunity to participate on a relay team with their favorite professional triathlete by bidding. The bidders compete against each other, with each subsequent bid being higher than the previous bid. All bidders will receive SMS text messaging and email when they are outbid. The winning bidder will be placed on the pro-am relay team. Bid monies raised will benefit The NASCAR Foundation.
2020 Athletes and bidding will be announced in the fall of 2020.

MIDDLE DISTANCE TRIATHALON
The Middle Distance race starts with a 1.2-mile, one-loop swim in the calm waters of Lake Lloyd, within sight of the iconic Daytona International Speedway track. Athletes will enter the water via a grass ramp, swim a single counter-clockwise loop, and exit via ramp to the Transition Area. The water temperature in Lake Lloyd is typically between 68 and 72 degrees.
After a quick transition, you’ll enjoy an unprecedented opportunity to race two and a half laps around Daytona International Speedway by bike. Next, you’ll race around the track two and half times and exit out the track after turn two with a move that will send you off onto the course like a rocket. You’ll race on roads named after celebrated NASCAR drivers, adding inspiration to an already exciting ride. On the journey we will take you out west on Highway 92 in fully protected lanes both out and on your return to the Daytona International Speedway to begin the run.
Finally, it’s time for a half marathon like you’ve only imagined. The run takes you on four excitement-filled laps of the track—running where NASCAR history is made. You’ll finish in the FanZone to the roar of the crowds, like countless sporting legends who have come before you. Maybe you won’t hit the speeds that NASCAR drivers clock, but it’s sure to be a fast run, fueled by the enthusiasm and energy of the crowds. It’s also sure to be an experience you’ll never forget!
