Course Design
THE MOST CHALLENGING COURSE ON THE SUPERCROSS CIRCUIT!
For the 14th consecutive year the DAYTONA Supercross course is designed by five-time DAYTONA Supercross champion and the “greatest of all time” Ricky Carmichael and he has a challenge in store for this year's riders. The course will feature obstacles never before seen at DAYTONA including the “over-under bridge” with riders racing across the bridge while other riders battle for position beneath them. With the start gate returning to pit road this year, riders will launch full throttle towards the fans on the Frontstretch to start the race before taking the action in the counter-clockwise direction.
TAKE A RIDE ON THE DAYTONA SUPERCROSS COURSE
FROM CONCEPT TO REALITY
The course planning for the following year's DAYTONA Supercross starts a full year before the event. During last year's 2020 DAYTONA Supercross, Ricky Carmichael and Don Flaner, our DAYTONA Supercross Track Director, started laying the groundwork for the 2021 event. Designs, ideas and concepts go back and forth for around three months before landing on an initial course design. From there, the finer details come together and a concept sketch is rendered into a 3-D map to really present how the course will layout across Daytona International Speedway's famous trioval. Normally, the day after the DAYTONA 500, although this year the day after our new DAYTONA Road Course Weekend, truck loads of dirt will be brought it to begin sculpting and building the most challenge Supercross course on the circuit.
