Warner Music Nashville recording artist Michael Ray, who was born in nearby Eustis, is coming home to Daytona International Speedway for the Independence Day holiday weekend to entertain NASCAR fans with a pre-race concert on Saturday, July 6 prior to the 61st annual Coke Zero Sugar 400, a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event.
Ray broke onto the national scene in 2012 as the winner of the CW network’s reality television vocal competition “The Next: Fame Is at Your Doorstep.” In 2015, he released his self-titled debut album, which generated No. 1 hits “Kiss You in the Morning” and “Think A Little Less,” and made his Grand Ole Opry debut. His follow-up album “Amos” was released in 2018 and featured hits such as “One That Got Away,” “Get to You” and “Her World or Mine.” Earlier this year, Ray received his first ACM nomination for New Male Vocalist of the Year.
“Our annual July 4th holiday celebration just got even bigger with the addition of a pre-race concert by Michael Ray – one of the rising stars of country music and a Central Florida guy to boot,” Daytona International Speedway President Chip Wile said. “We’re proud to welcome him back home. It’s going to be a great concert and a perfect complement to the always-thrilling Coke Zero Sugar 400.”
