Rolex 24 Race Day Checklist

With 24 hours of on-track action and plenty of activities throughout the weekend, you’ll want to come prepared for success to make your Rolex 24 At DAYTONA experience truly unforgettable!

Food & Drinks

Part of what makes raceday at DAYTONA truly unique is the ability to bring your very own cooler. Before you come to the track, pack up a soft side bag or cooler (no larger than 14x14x14 inches), filled with your favorite food and drinks. To make for a truly special and affordable, convenient experience, enjoy this special perk that few other events can offer!

Earplugs

If racing sounds loud on TV, we promise there’s nothing like the roar of the real thing. When world-class sports car engines fire up and the on-track action gets hot, the decibel level goes up considerably. To enjoy the 24 hours of racing at a comfortable volume, bring along a pair of earplugs or headphones.

With 24 straight hours of sportscar racing, you'll want to protect your ears

Tuning In

If you’d like to pair up the racing action with commentary, bring a portable radio and tune into FM 107.9 for the DIS public address system. With race teams from four different classes on track simultaneously, seeing AND hearing the action unfold is the best way to keep track of what drivers are in and how your favorite teams are doing. You can also listen to the action with the IMSA radio broadcast on IMSA.com, or tune to Sirius 216, XM 202 or 972 on the App Channel for 24 hours of coverage.

Binoculars

There’s not a bad view in the house at the “World Center of Racing,” as tremendous sightlines and bring you closer to the action than ever before. However, everywhere you go at DAYTONA is a chance to see the race from a new vantage point. There are plenty of sights to explore throughout 3.56-mile road course, making binoculars a handy tool if you want to focus on a specific group of drivers or an area of the course. As the sun sets, you’ll be able to use the binoculars to keep tabs on race positions via the LED panels on the sides of each car, even from the highest parts of the venue seating.

Comfortable Shoes

Good shoes are key to fully enjoying your trip to Daytona International Speedway. With festivities and programming filling nearly four days, you have plenty of time to explore and take part in all of the fun activities and entertainment inside UNOH Fanzone, the Infield Midway and throughout the rest of the “World Center of Racing.” If nothing else, the comfortable shoes should come in handy when traversing the high banks and walking up and down pit road during the FREE fan grid walk and pre-race ceremonies, a must-do for first-timers and motorsports enthusiasts alike.

Be sure to check the event schedule to make sure you live every second of this one-of-kind weekend.

Mobile App

The ultimate event companion is simply a must-have for your trip to DAYTONA. We highly recommend downloading the Daytona International Speedway mobile app, which will help with everything from parking navigation to building a custom event schedule to create a none-of-a-kind experience. In addition, the app allows you to win great prizes instantly by signing up for DAYTONA Rewards and visiting locations around the facility on race day.

Weather Gear

24 hours of racing means 24 hours of weather, which means you’ll need to prepare for weather fluctuation throughout the day and overnight. Expect temperatures to move anywhere between the low-50’s and low-70’s during the day, possibly even colder in the early hours of the morning. Rolex 24 veterans would recommend you dress in layers for an easy addition or removal of clothing and pack rain gear in case of less-than-ideal weather. Of course, you can always purchase limited edition Rolex 24 and DIS gear at any one of our many merchandise shops!

Expect the sun to be out regularly and temperatures to be extremely comfortable. Even in January, this is the Sunshine State. Make sure you keep your skin protected by bringing along sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Autograph Ready

You’ll have a chance to meet all of your favorite drivers and collect signatures in one of the largest autograph sessions in motorsports held in the UNOH Fanzone with every driver from the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship on Saturday afternoon. Nowhere in the world will you find the greatest sports car drivers all signing autographs at the same time and in the same location, so be sure to bring your favorite memorabilia and a marker.

In addition, a marker could also come in handy if you’re out for the pre-race grid walk and sign the start/finish line, or if you choose to enhance your Rolex 24 experience with garage access to get closer to the teams. Two-day (Sat/Sun) garage access is available for only $50. Buy now online or during the race weekend at the UNOH Fanzone ticket office.
