$50 Donation for Two Laps Around The World Center of Racing to Benefit The NASCAR Foundation’s Programs for Kids

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The NASCAR Foundation and Daytona International Speedway will team up to host the first ever License to Drive event on Wednesday, July 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET. This immersive event will allow fans in their personal vehicles to experience the world-renowned venue through the same lens as the best drivers in the world: both on the track and behind the wheel.

For $50 per vehicle, participants will have the opportunity to drive their vehicle for two laps around the iconic 2.5-mile World Center of Racing, led by a Daytona International Speedway Safety/Pace vehicle.

“This event is a fantastic opportunity for fans to get a taste of NASCAR racing at a track that holds so much significance to the sport,” said Nichole Krieger, The NASCAR Foundation Executive Director. “Most importantly, through this unforgettable track experience, participants will be positively impacting the life of a child in need.”

The License to Drive event will provide guests the opportunity to take their street legal vehicles around the historical venue at 55 mph. While guests will be able to go on the banking through the frontstretch trioval, they will not be allowed on the banking in turns 1 & 2, and 3 & 4. No passing will be allowed. All participants will be required to stay in their vehicle at all times.

Participants behind the wheel must have a valid driver’s license. Each vehicle must be equipped with enough seatbelts for all passengers. Vehicles deemed unsafe by DIS staff will not be allowed onto the track surface. No motorcycles, RV’s or tractor trailers will be allowed.

To take part in this unprecedented event, fans can register online at www.NASCARfoundation.org/drive. NASCAR specialty plate holders in Florida will have the chance to secure a special offer, as the first 200 vehicles will get to participate for free with proof of plate registration. On-site registration will also be available outside of Turn 1 the day of the event, beginning at 11 a.m. Entry to the area will be at Turn One Driver and International Speedway Boulevard adjacent to the Advent Health Injector.

After kicking off the event with a special ceremony at Victory Circle in ONE DAYTONA (across street from DIS), NASCAR Foundation VIPs will lead the first group of cars around the track. Fans will get a firsthand look at what NASCAR’s best must negotiate to win at the most storied track in motorsports.

While thrill seekers enjoy life in the driver’s seat, a community NASCAR Foundation celebration will also be open to the public in Victory Circle at ONE DAYTONA from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday. This free event will offer raffle items, prizes, kid’s activities and more. Lunch specials will also be available to purchase for $5-$7: Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery (two beef sliders with cheddar cheese, bacon, BBQ sauce and pickle, side of fries and non-alcoholic drink for $7), Tiano’s Cuccina Italiana (1 slice of cheese pizza and soft drink for $5), 4 Rivers Smokehouse (slider, classic side, small fountain drink and chocolate chip cookie for $6) and Sir Malcolm (Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and soft drink for $7).

Since it was established in 2006, The NASCAR Foundation has raised nearly $40 million and helped over 1.4 million children in need. The License to Drive event will continue these efforts, with all proceeds from the day’s activities benefiting the Foundation’s initiatives, aimed at improving the health and wellness of children in both Daytona Beach and in race markets across the country.

The Speedway’s next NASCAR weekend, featuring the regular-season finale Coke Zero Sugar 400, is set for Aug. 27-28. The event will serve as the last-chance race to for a driver to make the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs on Saturday, Aug. 28. The Wawa 250 Powered by Coca-Cola for the NASCAR Xfinity Series is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 27. For ticket information, visit www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com.
