The AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer returns to The World Center of Racing

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 28, 2024) — Daytona International Speedway has named Jeff Stanton Grand Marshal for the 54th annual DAYTONA Supercross, giving riders the command to fire up their engines before tackling another grueling course from Ricky Carmichael.

“Jeff Stanton isn‘t just an AMA Supercross and Motocross legend, he‘s a Daytona legend as well,” said Daytona International Speedway President Frank Kelleher. “Winning this event four times, let alone four years in a row, puts you on a whole different level. We‘re pumped to have Jeff back at the World Center of Racing, and I can‘t wait to hear the fans‘ reaction to his command.”

Stanton stacked his championships across AMA 250cc Motocross and AMA Supercross, earning titles in both series during the 1989, 1990 and 1992 seasons, ending his stint with six total series champion tallies. During those years, Stanton also claimed the crown of DAYTONA Supercross Champion, winning the coveted event four consecutive years from 1989 — 1992.

Stanton‘s legacy doesn‘t just span across AMA but across the entire world of motor racing as well. He won the 250cc U.S. Grand Prix of Motocross three years in a row while competing in the FIM Motocross World Championship. His performances in the Motocross des Nations, considered the “Olympics of Motocross” were enough to leave an imprint on all nations watching and competing. Stanton tackled the courses with a vengeance in Germany in ‘89, Sweden in ‘90 and the Netherlands in ’91, leading Team USA to victory and extending the US‘s winning streak to 11 years in a row.

It is a privilege to be a part of the 2024 DAYTONA Supercross,” said Stanton. “This event and Bike Week was my favorite race each year. It always kickstarted my championship drive.”

The 54th annual DAYTONA Supercross takes place on March 2, 2024, with riders taking on another challenging Ricky Carmichael designed course, under the lights at Daytona International Speedway as part of Bike Week Presented by Monster Energy.

Bike Week is a ten-day motorcycle celebration kicking off on March 1, and continuing through March 10, featuring the intense, high-speed racing of the DAYTONA 200 on March 7-9.
